In the Crusade That Almost Wasn’t, Nearly 2,000 Come to Jesus

Nearly 2,000 Accept Christ at Franklin Graham Crusade After Some Wanted Him Banned From Preaching: “Stuff Like This Just Doesn’t Happen in Western Canada”

Tears were flowing down my face.  I needed a package of Kleenex … For us, this is a historical event. I’ve never seen a crowd of people flooding the floor. Stuff like this just doesn’t happen in western Canada.” -Karen Assimes

(Canada)—[CBN News] Thousands flooded Vancouver’s Roger’s Arena last weekend to hear about Jesus. Worship and prayer filled the massive stadium as Rev. Franklin Graham preached the Gospel during his Festival of Hope crusade across the country. (Photo via BillyGraham.org)

Many attendees say their lives will never be the same.

“Praise God for an amazing encounter,” attendee Destiny Kuo says. “I got emotional seeing so many people accepting our Savior!!”

Nearly half of the 1,900 people who responded to Graham’s invitation to make Christ their Lord and Savior were under 18. Sabrina Hay was one of many parents who watched their children give their lives to Christ.

“Such an amazing night! So worth every minute! My daughter even asked the Lord to be her Savior! She has begun her walk,” Hay said.

While thousands of lives were changed by the Gospel, many tried to stop Graham from preaching at the event.

Just days before the crusade, several city leaders and 14 ministers asked that Graham be banned from preaching the Gospel for what they call “extraordinarily derogative” beliefs about gay marriage and Islam.

Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson and the ministers wrote a letter asking organizers to drop Graham from the itinerary.

“Why would they have invited this person in the first place, knowing that he’s said these things about Muslims, knowing that he’s said these things about the LGBTQ community?” said Councilor Tim Stevenson, Canada’s first openly gay minister. “Why would they not invite a different evangelist, one that isn’t controversial?”

Graham has always been honest about Biblical marriage, calling society’s celebration of the homosexual lifestyle a “tide of moral decay.” (Photo via BillyGraham.org)

He has also called Islam “evil” and a “danger to our security.”

Despite the backlash, organizers told CBN News Graham’s only mission was to tell Vancouver about Jesus.

“We made it very clear that Franklin Graham was not coming to incite hatred or violence, but to simply preach the Gospel to this city,” Westwood Community Church pastor Giulio Lorefice Gabeli told CBN News.

Gabeli also made it clear that while some ministers may be wary of Graham’s personal views, he and other organizers “are committed to pursuing the unity of the Church in Vancouver.”

I AM RAISING UP A COMPANY OF WOMEN WITH FIRE IN THEIR BELLIES!!!

Lana Vawser 26-1-2017

Last night I had a dream and in my dream, I heard the voice of the Lord booming with such authority, expectancy and destiny. He said “I AM RAISING UP A COMPANY OF WOMEN WITH FIRE IN THEIR BELLIES”

Followed straight after that I heard the Lord decreeing ISAIAH 60:1:

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.”

ISAIAH 60:1-3 – MESSAGE TRANSLATION: “Get out of bed, Jerusalem! Wake up! Put your face in the sunlight! God’s bright glory has risen for you. The whole earth is wrapped in darkness , all the people sunk in deep darkness. BUT GOD rises on YOU, His sunrise glory breaks over YOU! Nations will come to your light, kings to your sunrise brightness.”

THE GREATEST AWAKENING AMONGST WOMEN WE HAVE EVER SEEN IS UPON US

As I have sought the Lord on this encounter as I slept, I believe He spoke to me that the GREATEST AWAKENING we have ever seen amongst women, is upon us right now.

A new day is upon women right now!

This week when I saw the women’s march that took place in Washington D.C this week, something stirred in me. I was deeply grieved to hear and see what took place, but in the midst of it all, I felt the Lord quickening me to “pay attention” to it. It wasn’t until pondering my dream this morning that I understood what the Lord was saying.

This was a very clear example of the “fire in the bellies” of women to stand in conviction and passion for what they believed in. While this protest was one of division and lack of honour for President Donald Trump, the Lord quickened to me that He is raising up women now who KNOW HIM, modern day Esther’s, Deborah’s, and Mary’s to stand with PASSION and CONVICTION on their platform of influence. He is awakening women and MAKING their voice LOUD to bring CHANGE, LIFE, stand for RIGHTEOUSNESS and see incredible visitations of His Glory. What happened this week I believe was an archetype of what God is doing. Where one ‘uprising of women’ brought division and lacked fruit of integrity and righteousness, the uprising and awakening of women who know Him by His Spirit will bring sudden breakthroughs, life and freedom. Fruit of holiness, unity, righteousness and peace will be evident.

MANY WOMEN HAVE BEEN THROUGH THE FIRE IN THIS SEASON AND THOUGHT THEY WERE GOING TO DIE….

I heard the Lord say “Many women have been through the fire in this season and thought they were going to die, but they have continued to hold to Me and stand. Now they are going to CARRY MY FIRE like NEVER BEFORE. The fire of trial after trial has come upon them, and they have continued to seek Me. The fire of My pruning and purifying has come upon them and they have embraced it.”

NOW THE FIRE OF MY LOVE IS COMING POWERFULLY…

“Now the fire of My love is coming SO POWERFULLY, encounters with the fire of My love that will be SO DEEP it will feel like it cannot be contained. It will bring INSTANT HEALING, TRANSFORMATION and EMPOWERING IMPARTATION into them, that wherever they go and whatever they touch shall be IGNITED by the IMPARTATION OF MY LOVE!!!!!!”

These encounters with the fire of God’s love is going to UNDO women in the body of Christ SO PROFOUNDLY that the cry shall be heard all across the world “WHAT LOVE IS THIS??? I CANNOT CONTAIN IT!!! JESUS! WHAT LOVE IS THIS!!!!” and from the place of EXPLODING UNCONTAINABLE REVELATION of His love, His fire shall explode and overflow everywhere they go.

I AM RESTORING THE ROAR

There been such a strategic assignment against women in this season, to keep them held down, silent and caged in fear and intimidation. The Lord is breaking these things now, and we are seeing the greatest awakening of women taking place. I had a vision where I saw the Lord removing TAPE from the mouths of women in these encounters with the Lord and His fire. From that place He is RESTORING THE ROAR within them.

We are beginning to see and about to see in great acceleration the RISING UP of WOMEN FILLED with the COURAGE OF HEAVEN. Completely FEARLESS, filled with PASSION and DETERMINATION and no longer RUNNING from the enemy, but EYEBALLING HIM and going into his territory and taking GROUND BACK!

This large company of women He is raising up, who know Him and His heart , who carry His fire are about to meet new doors of influence in their lives to release His fire.

This year, we are about to see women take their place in ways we have never imagined. The Lord is highlighting the VOICE OF WOMEN. The Lord has begun and it will continue to increase, to birth messages within women. These messages, are life messages that the Lord has given them. Women are finding their voice again in this season as they seek Him. The messages are going to be birthed in such HUGE and SIGNIFICANT ways. Books, CD’s, music, art, media, in relationships, in mothering, in teaching, in Pastoring. The voice of WOMEN is getting LOUD.

MANY WOMEN IN THE BODY OF CHRIST HAVE LEARNED TO LIVE AS MARY’S – SITTING AT MY FEET. NOW I AM POSITIONING THEM AS ESTHER’S!

I felt the Lord say “Many women in the body of Christ have learned to live as Mary’s – sitting at My feet. Now I am positioning them as Esther’s” – The sense surrounded me, that as women in the body of Christ, have simply MADE HIM their FIRST DELIGHT, their FIRST LOVE. Where their TOP PRIORITY has been to KNOW HIM, MINISTER TO HIM AND DELIGHT IN HIM, He is now positioning them as ESTHER’S!!!!!!!! They have learned to live deeply yielded, in purity, integrity and humility before the Lord. They have learned to steward their heart, lives and what the Lord has given them with such integrity and worship to Jesus, He is now entrusting them with MUCH!

I saw the Lord moving pieces around on a chessboard and I saw Him strategically placing women in places of SIGNIFICANT influence in this season. It wasn’t happening SLOWLY, it was happening SUDDENLY. One day, things look one way, the next day, there’s been a complete shift and change and a MIRACULOUS POSITIONING has taken place.

The Lord kept highlighting PAULA WHITE to me. That the position of influence that the Lord has placed her in, in this season to advise President Trump, is a prophetic picture for the Lord raising women up to the frontline and into places of greater influence to bring change to nations. Their mouths FULL of the wisdom of heaven and discernment of His heart, and being CALLED UPON to release the strategy of heaven. This is only going to continue to increase more and more in this season.

TIDAL WAVE OF CREATIVITY IS CRASHING IN

I saw a TIDAL WAVE of CREATIVITY crashing in on women in this season. Chains that have held many women down from knowing who they are and what they were created to do, and how to express the creativity of heaven, it’s being BROKEN. God is AWAKENING CREATIVITY in women. Watch and see women who KNOW HIM being to be positioned in greater positions of influence in areas of CREATIVITY to begin to LEAD THE WORLD in the CREATIVITY of heaven.

A BIRTHING IS UPON WOMEN, BIRTHING MULTIPLE BABIES

I saw women all across the body of Christ and they were HEAVILY PREGNANT and they were beginning to BIRTH. The thing is, as they gave birth MULTIPLE BABIES were being delivered. The Lord spoke to me that in this birthing that is happening, the Lord is birthing MORE than they thought they were carrying. BIGGER DREAMS and MANIFESTATIONS than was EVER expected. Things will BREAK OPEN SUDDENLY – one after another, after another. Accelerated momentum in birthing and breakthrough.

GREATER INCREASE OF FEMALE PROPHETIC VOICES

I saw the Lord igniting the eyes and ears of many women in the body of Christ with FIRE. He was UPGRADING hearing and vision and raising up more FEMALE PROPHETIC VOICES in this season. I saw them being raised up in such acceleration all across the world. These ones were MARKED by the SECRET PLACE. They KNOW Him, they know His heart. They have a deep hunger for and foundation in the Word. Their lives shine with integrity, purity and humility and their eyes have seen and ears have heard the secrets of His heart. They have been through the fire and proven and entrusted to carry the deep meditations of the heart of God. They are being positioned in different streams, places and positions all across the earth to release the messages of His heart and train and equip others in hearing from the Lord.

The fire of God is falling upon women who believe they don’t hear from God, and don’t know how to prophesy. Suddenly, the fire of God will fall and awaken them, and they will begin to prophesy!

It’s an exciting time! The Lord is raising up a large company of women with FIRE IN THEIR BELLIES that are going to bring incredible shift and change by the Spirit of God in the world.

A PSALM 65:7 DECREE For the INAUGURATION

A PSALM 65:7 DECREE LEADING UP TO AND COVERING JANUARY 20TH – THE INAUGURATION OF PRESIDENT ELECT DONALD TRUMP

Lana Vawser

I had the privilege and honour of attending the POTUS Shield Prayer Conference here in Washington DC over the past few days. Today the Lord gave me another part of a word I am going to release for the USA soon.

In the word I received today the Lord highlighted Psalm 65:5-10 ( SPECIFICALLY from The Passion Translation) for the USA right now.

As I sat on this passage, I felt the Lord’s prompting to release an encouragement to the body of Christ to be SPECIFICALLY decreeing Psalm 65:7 over President Elect-Trump’s inauguration in a weeks’ time.

“You muzzle the roar of the mighty seas and the rage of mobs with their noisy riots.” (The Passion Translation)

Decree Psalm 65:7 with me that the Lord will muzzle the rage of mobs with their noisy riots and the commotion of nations that may attempt to arise!!

Watch and see what God is going to do with the powerful decree of His Word!

From One Blue HorseA Word for all of you in this new season with God in our Country and the World. God is moving in a way none of us expect, stay encouraged, with your eyes on Jesus for a new divine appointment and breakthrough!

God may be moving in your life and in a situation in a way you didn’t expect, and there’s a temptation to be disappointed. Remind your soul who Jesus is and His faithfulness and trust Him as David did. Psalm 103 (Bless the Lord oh my soul …. Read all of it)

KNOW THIS… where there may be a temptation to move into disappointment, be encouraged there’s a new DIVINE APPOINTMENT of breakthrough before you!

God may be moving different than you imagined or expected, but the outcome and unveiling of what He is doing is going to be more amazing than you ever dreamed

Franklin Graham: “Now Is the Time to Come Together”

franklin-graham

Whether your preferred candidate won or lost, you may be wondering, what now?

The 2016 election is over, and Americans have chosen a new leadership team—President-elect Donald J. Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence. “This election has been long, it’s been tough, and it’s been divisive. It’s time to put that behind us,” Franklin Graham said on Facebook Wednesday morning.

“Now is the time to come together in unity and work together. Our nation has so many problems that need fixing. Even more important are the spiritual needs of our country. Whether we are rich or poor, without Jesus Christ we are the most desperately in need, the poorest of the poor. We cannot ignore His hand and His supreme authority.”

All year long, Franklin Graham traveled from coast to coast, urging Christians to do three things: pray, vote and engage in the political process. The polls may be closed, but the need to pray and engage is just as important now as it was before the election.

“One thing is for sure, we need to pray for our new president, vice president, and our other leaders every day—whether we agree with them or not,” Franklin Graham said. “They need God’s help and direction. It is my prayer that we will truly be ‘one nation under God.'”

As the nation prepares for new leadership, read these five reminders for some Biblical perspective.

  1. Remember the Truth

“How great are His signs, how mighty His wonders! His Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom, and His dominion endures from generation to generation.” (Daniel 4:3, ESV)

Nations and kingdoms on earth appear and disappear throughout history. But God’s Kingdom is everlasting. The news headlines may have you feeling uneasy, but remember that God was in control before the votes were in, and He’s still in control now. Before the election, Franklin Graham posted this on his Facebook page:

The Bible tells us that ultimately “God reigns over the nations; God sits on His holy throne” (Psalm 47:8). I am praying for God to give us a president, a vice president, and other leaders in this country who will acknowledge Him and look to Him for direction. But no matter who is in the Oval Office, God is still on His throne. My hope is in Him. He is what our country needs. “And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in you” (Psalm 39:7).

  1. Start at Home

“Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!” (Psalm 139:23-24, ESV)

It’s easy to focus on the flaws and the sins of the nation’s politicians. But God’s Word instructs us to take a hard look at our own sins.

Jesus said, “Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?” (Matthew 7:3, ESV)

Throughout the Decision America Tour, Franklin Graham led hundreds of thousands of Americans in prayers of repentance for their individual sins, the sins of their families and the sins of the nation. “Because the only hope for America is if God’s people repent of their sins and call upon His Name,” Franklin said. Take a few minutes today to search your own heart and to ask God for forgiveness.

  1. Pray for the New President and All Elected Leaders

“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:1-4, ESV)

“I pray that President-elect Trump will surround himself with godly men and women to help advise and counsel him as he leads the nation,” Franklin Graham posted on his Facebook page.

Have you prayed for the newly elected president and vice president today? How about your governor? Your local school board members?

Regardless of who won the elections, pray for the salvation of those who are in leadership. And pray for unity within the Church.

  1. Start Looking for Godly People to Run for Office

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom He has chosen as His heritage!” (Psalm 33:12, ESV)

“We need men and women in office who love God, who fear God,” Franklin Graham said on the last stop of the Decision America Tour, in Raleigh, North Carolina. His message wasn’t new—Billy Graham said the same thing 40 years ago.

“Here’s something my father said in 1976,” Franklin shared. “He said, ‘Get involved in the political process. I’d like to challenge every deeply-committed American who’s qualified to think about running for political office.’ He said, ‘I don’t believe that we as Christians should withdraw. We need men and women of integrity, of Christian commitment, who will run for political office.'”

If you don’t like the current political landscape, ask God to show you what you can do about it.

“Go back into your community and start looking, start praying, but look for people in your community that would be good on the school board, who would be good as a mayor,” Franklin Graham said. “But start looking for Christians—real, true, born again men and women of God, and begin to get behind them and organize for them.

“Because if you can take your community back, we’ll eventually get the capitols back and eventually get Washington back.”

  1. Take a Stand

“And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.” (Acts 4:31, ESV)

When the early Christians were persecuted and thrown in jail, they prayed for God to allow them to continue to preach with boldness. Their prayers were answered, and many people came to faith in Jesus Christ.

As Franklin Graham has declared time and again, now is not the time for Christians to be silent.

“We as Christians, we have been told we’ve got to be quiet,” Franklin said at the North Carolina State Capitol in October. “We don’t want to upset people. We don’t want to turn anybody off. We want to be loving. We want to be caring. And of course we want to be loving, and of course we want to be caring. But they accuse us of being intolerant if we speak up.

“Well, we don’t want to be accused of being intolerant. So, we want to be nice. Christlike. But I remember Christ one time taking a whip and chasing those money changers out of the temple (John 2:15). I remember Jesus one time telling those Pharisees, ‘You’re a bunch a whitewashed tombs’ (Matthew 23:27).

“There are times that we need to stand up and speak out.”

INCREASE INTERCESSION FOR THE PROTECTION OF DONALD TRUMP!!!

A CALL TO THE BODY OF CHRIST TO INCREASE INTERCESSION FOR THE PROTECTION OF DONALD TRUMP!!!

Lana Vawser
www.lanavawser.com

This afternoon I had a vision which I felt that the Lord wanted me to release to call people to specific prayer. I know I released a word today regarding Donald Trump, but after this vision, I felt that the Lord wanted me to release it for a specific targeted direction to pray.

A little while before the election I had a vision where I was taken into what looked like a ‘commissioning room’ and I saw the enemy gathering hordes of demonic figures and he unraveled scrolls that had strategies on them. This particular strategy was to release blindfolds to the body of Christ and bring deception. To hinder people from seeing what God was saying and doing leading up to the election and in the nation of the USA.

This afternoon I saw the same ‘commissioning room’ and I saw the enemy and the hordes of demons and he unraveled a new set of scrolls. These were new plans and new strategies. As I looked closely on these scrolls I saw the word “ASSASSINATION ATTEMPTS”. I knew instantly that these were plans to attempt to assassinate Donald Trump.

Straight away I felt the Lord say “My people, you need to increase your intercession over Donald Trump. Pray for increased angelic protection over him and around him. Pray for angels of ascension to be stationed around him.”

Instantly I saw a HUGE WORD in RED appear OVER the words “ASSASSINATION ATTEMPTS” and it said “ASCENT”.

ASCENT DEFINITION: An instance of rising or moving up through the air; to rise up; upward movement; take off, lift off, blast off, launch, soar, climb. (Google.com)

I then felt the Lord speak again “As My people pray and pray for Donald Trump’s protection, as they call on the angels of ASCENT, Donald Trump will be lifted high above these assassination attempts and NOT be touched or harmed. He will be lifted up by My Spirit to a place where he will SOAR above the enemy’s attempts and roar.”

As the vision ended I had such a strong sense from the Lord that the people of God whether you agree with Trump or not, we need to unite together and pray for his protection. He is now elected and the Bible commands us to pray for our leaders in 1 Timothy 2:1-2 and he needs our covering right now. There is a war happening in the spirit and I felt an urgency to pray for his protection.

We need to be speaking LIFE over him and assignments of the enemy cancelled as angels of ascension come ministering to him with the Spirit of God to lift him high above the storm and assignments of the evil one.

Let’s stand together Church!

One of the Most Powerful Weapons: Gratitude

I am not off the campaign trail for God and America but this post fits well because Gratitude is something we must express to God for all He has given us and sometimes it isn’t what we asked for or wanted but in the end it is the best for us.
gratitude-happiness-2

Post by Randy Walter

Our Weapons – Criticism or Gratitude?

2 Corinthians 10:4 says, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.”

How is gratitude a weapon? The Lord told us: “The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy. He uses fear to capture hearts. He uses lies to capture land. Gratitude prevents him. Gratitude actually takes territory from the enemy. Thus, gratitude is a weapon in spiritual warfare.”

The weapons we use are either from God or from the enemy. When we use the enemy’s weapons of fear, hatred, criticism, complaining, judging and taking offense, we let him steal our identity, kill our hope and destroy our future.

Criticism is a form of complaining and the opposite of gratitude. It is a tactic from our adversary to disrupt unity.

The Lord explained:

“Being critical is an attempt to be justified. For people steeped in that spirit, it is very difficult to understand that critical words are accusations and curses. It is even more difficult for that person to recognize it as exalting himself at another’s expense.

“If asked, the critical person would not want that same standard applied to him. Yet Scripture says that as you judge, you will be judged.

“Think of all the people it’s easy to criticize – your spouse, children, neighbors, pastor and leaders. What if you saw yourself speaking vile curses over all those people? Wouldn’t that take away your sense of justification?

When Paul called himself chief among sinners, it was not false modesty. He had learned how exalting himself over others by thinking he was always right (he was trained that way before his conversion) leads to death. He thought he was judging heretics when he was actually judging Jesus Himself. Once Paul was free of that critical spirit, he learned how to bless and curse not.

Last Days Doom and Gloom

Even though we live in perilous times, the best is yet to come. However, much last days negativity is being circulated by many people, including Christians. The Internet has become a growth medium for fear. Giving into a mind-set of doom and gloom plays into the enemy’s plan to incapacitate us with fear and dread of the future. We can’t let temporal facts cloud our understanding of eternal truth. Jesus said, “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near” (Luke 21:28).

He explained to us:

“By imagining worst case scenarios, you make things worse than they are. When you tell these things to other people, you instill fear. That is not of Me. Fear is the chief tactic of the enemy. When you use his methods, you promote his cause.

“It is the immature to assume fear can be a tool for righteousness. The tool I give to My servants is love, and you need to use it to draw people to Me. It only takes a little doom and gloom for people not to take you seriously. There is enough of that in the world, and you don’t want to be identified with it.

“Worldly people are starved for love… Only when love cares for a man’s soul does he feel accepted and at peace. The lack of peace in the world today speaks of the lack of love. I want My children to change that. You will not win the world with your logic, you will win the world with love. There is no logic that can explain My love. So let joy infiltrate your hearts, peace dictate your thoughts and love craft your words.”

Good Reports

Barbara and I recently gave names to our personal gates. Our eye gates we named “Purity”; our mouth gates, “Self-control” (for what goes in and what comes out); and our ear gates, “Good Reports.”

Barbara had been viewing network news for much of the day while working in the kitchen. A subtle spirit of fear drew her to the negative reports – the doom and gloom. Fear was undermining her joy and sabotaging her gratitude.

After realizing how harmful this was, she went on a fast to blur out negativity. We are also very careful to blip out negativism that comes over the Internet. We’re not burying our heads in the sand but selecting what we dwell on. This is what Paul said to do:

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true… noble… just… pure… lovely… of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things.” (Philippians 4:8)

Prosperity or Poverty in the Spirit?

There is an actual spirit of poverty which hinders gratitude. Poverty is both financial and spiritual in nature. The Lord told us, “Poverty is the absence of a viable relationship with Me.” Notice there is a qualifier. “Viable” means “capable of living.”

Poverty takes people’s eyes off the Lord and focuses them on themselves. It reduces people to survival mode and makes it hard to think in terms of eternity, and this fosters spiritual ignorance.

The Lord told us:

“People with a spirit of poverty are not just at risk for being financially poor. Their outlook on living is destitute. They have resentment and self-doubt. Blaming is a common device to diffuse their pain. Poverty is not only found in their circumstances but their mind-set.

“How do people come to poverty? Those who don’t manage their resources well are usually ungrateful, and that’s why they suffer loss. All of the pride sins – especially poor stewardship and ingratitude – invite the devourer to take.”

Part of Gratitude is Properly Stewarding What We Already Have

Barbara and I conduct devotions at an area homeless shelter. “Ingratitude and entitlement” has been a stronghold for some of the people there. Those emotions carry with them spirits of abandonment, rejection, self-condemnation, shame and poverty.

The cycle of resentment and self-pity must be broken. Preparing for devotions at the shelter recently, the Lord said to tell the guests:

“Never consider what you lack without reminding yourself of all the blessings you have. That way, you’ll always be grateful.

“Gratitude creates an atmosphere for increase. Being grateful for everything is the key. Look at all of the traps gratitude helps you avoid: self-pity, entitlement, resentment, greed, lust and anger are a few. See what a great strategy gratitude is?

“Gratitude helps you avoid disappointment and indignation. As an active strategy for wellness, it promotes healing. It balances the three parts of your being because it is an act of worship. It leaves little room for fear. Gratitude and contentment are the same thing. They enhance godliness as you set your affection on things above and not things below. That is great gain.”

The Immensity of the Shift

Gratitude means being grateful not only for what God has already done but for what He is about to do. Combining faith with gratitude multiplies the power of this spiritual weapon.

Here is how He put it:

“In the same way you cannot be fully prepared for the things to come, you also cannot be fully prepared for the extent of My glory which is about to be revealed.

You’ve been mistaken. You thought you would have to program yourselves to see what I was doing in the midst of terrible things you may witness. I say you are already programmed, and seeing My hand and My glory will not be difficult for you.

Trusting Me will not be a strategy of last resort; it will come naturally. It won’t be hard for you to do the right thing. You will be grateful for all of the training you received through adversity, when you see how easy it is to trust Me and to recognize the fulfillment of My plans and prophecies.

Because of the immensity of the shift that is about to take place, you will find it easy to temper yourselves. But you will not stand in awe of events; you will stand in awe of Me for revealing these things to My prophets, who shared them through My Word. You will appreciate the shortened time of distress and the saving power of My hand. The things you hoped would be true will materialize as your peace comes from Me.

Before all is over, My People will feel like Jesus in the boat, rebuking the storm. They will derive their authority from their identity as members of My household. The world is about to stand in awe of My People, as My People stand in awe of Me.”

No Fear … God is always with you

It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8

One of our greatest problems is fear. With all the things happening in the world at this time people have cause for fear more than ever in their lives. What do we all fear … the future. We aren’t afraid of the past it is behind us. We don’t fear the present as much as what will happen next, that is the future.

When we think about the future we think of loss, pain and sorrow. We fear losing things, jobs, cars, homes people in our lives, finances our future itself. We fear physical pain, emotional pain and personal pain. Fear of failure, fear of losing friends, spouses, kids, animals, you name it fear is a great part of our lives. There is so much cause for fear they have come up with all sorts of “phobias” to cover them.

Fear is a universal problem. It hits us hard threatening to overwhelm us, to immobilize us totally. Fear, afraid, tremble, terror, terrified, dread, frighten and faint are repeatedly used all though the Bible. Well-known characters in the Bible suffered with fear like Abraham, Hagar, the Israelites, David, Solomon and Jeremiah to name a few. Many of the people in the Bible regarded as heroes shared the same fears that we do.

Fear is a normal reaction to things that happen. When it isn’t natural is if we don’t get over it and soon it is controlling us. When it becomes our way of handling everything then it is a problem.

Fear is the contradiction of faith. Faith says no matter what happens God is with me and He will get me through it. Fear says God isn’t big enough to help me with this. I am alone and helpless.

Fear is relying completely on your self to get through it and finding out you can’t do it, which then lets in even more fear. Fear has no place in the life of a Christian. A fearful response is never from God.

“You did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear,” Romans 8:15

“God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control,” 2 Timothy 1:7

I like the way the Message Bible states this next scripture because it speaks to me in a way I can understand on my own level of fear, which is ending up on the street broke and homeless. I fight it continually because I know it is wrong and I trust God with so much but fall short on the fear of being homeless. Growing up my family didn’t have much and my mother who was raised with money and finery had a problem with our poverty. Then in my first marriage I ended up homeless for a short time when my husband left me for another woman and wouldn’t let me into our house. It only lasted long enough to give me a real feeling for what being homeless would be like. No excuse to feel fear over it but maybe the reason.

5-6 Don’t be obsessed with getting more material things. Be relaxed with what you have. Since God assured us, “I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you,” we can boldly quote, God is there, ready to help; I’m fearless no matter what.
Who or what can get to me?
Hebrews 13:5-6 (Message)

Believing God is always with us, the promise of His presence will help with all fear. He says he will never leave you or forsake you. He won’t die like our friends; relatives, pets and He won’t leave us like our spouses or throw us out the door when He gets tired of us.

Think about that and let it go deeply into your soul: God is always with me. Therefore, I will not fear. We are always in His presence, there is no distance problem with Him. When my husband and I met on the internet we were never together in the flesh. We sent hundreds of emails and talked thousands of dollars worth on the phone. When we talked I could sort of feel his presence but when I hung up the phone I was a continent away from him and I couldn’t sense his presence at all. But God is present with us all the time, in the dark of night when we cry, at work when we take a blasting from the boss, when we are angry or sad, God is there no matter what.

“Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence: If I ascent to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.” Psalm 139:7-10

Another of my favorites is, “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18

Boy that is one I can testify to absolutely. God has been there for me through some pretty terrible things that I would not have survived otherwise.

God will never leave us or forsake us. He will always be there; He will always be working on our behalf even when you don’t see it! And even more to ponder is Christ Jesus who died and was raised (for us) is at the right hand of God, interceding for us. He knows all about us – every secret insecurity, every private struggle, every tear we shed – and he doesn’t condemn us but prays for us. That should cause your spirit to rise up in grateful confidence.

No matter what the news tells us, we have no need to fear. Our security is from God. Not the stock market, our career, our family or friends, our gated house, money in the bank or anything else. Our security is in God, the Creator of the universe and everything in it. Nothing is above Him or even close so what should we fear …

We Are Called to Watch and Warn

Several thousand years ago…

Mayan one: “Okay guys I’ve finished the calendar!”
Mayan two: “But it only goes up to 12/21/2012”
Mayan one: “Ah don’t worry about it we’ll make a new one before then. I would have continued on this stone but I ran out of room.”
Mayan two: “Fair enough. Hey, imagine if people thought that the world was gonna end because you couldn’t find a bigger stone.”
Mayan one: “Yeah, but you’d have to be pretty stupid to think that wouldn’t you?”

That is my share of humor with you today. My cousin sent that to me along with other jokes for December. I’m late getting it up here but it fits in with some scriptures I’ve been looking at and thoughts I’ve had in my mind of late.

Everybody has heard the warning about the Mayan Calendar ending in 2012 and the world ending with it. Many people are living in fear and dread that it is true. It is only one of many dooms day warnings that are floating around on the internet and even on TV. There is no doubt that times are very hard and also different from anything we have ever experienced. I feel we really are seeing end times prophecies coming to pass or in our near future but this isn’t the time to lose faith or our trust in God. Instead we need to step up our vigilance, become like watchmen on the wall.

The watchmen on the wall had one duty, to watch for danger or anything that could be a threat to the city and the people in it. They stood for hours on top of the wall around the city and just watched, listened and stayed alert to anything that didn’t seem right. If they saw danger of any kind approaching they would take the ram’s horn that hung over their shoulder or around their waist and blow it as loudly as possible to alert the people within the walls. It would awaken people from slumber or from their busy tasks and they would grab a weapon, hide the children and the old people and ready themselves for battle.

We are called to watch and to be ready for war against the powers of darkness that surround us in the world.  We are to warn the people who slumber or are busy with life and not watching for themselves. That could be family, friends or people you work with. In order to watch and recognize what might be a danger we must keep ourselves in good nick with God, our faith and our personal lives.

Lawlessness is running rampant over the earth and it is easy to get caught up in it. We all want to have friends, be good to our relatives, get along with the mob at work and in so doing it is easy to step over the line into lawlessness. It is not just robbing, killing, and beating people up but anything that is against God’s laws and principles. So we must beware at all times and keep our minds clear and focused on the Lord.

I’ll use the work place as an example. People always want to talk, ask questions and find out about you, especially if you are new or they are new. How much do you tell them, how do you answer hard questions that might affect you in your job? Who can you trust and how much? What about politics and religion? How do you answer questions in that area? You can say I don’t discuss politics or religion; or you can say how you believe and take the consequences if they don’t agree; or you can agree with whatever they say even if it is against what you believe. Once you set the standard either way you are stuck with it.

If you cover up your belief in God you leave yourself wide open to dirty jokes, lewd comments, invitations to parties you don’t want to be at and all the rest the world enjoys. It also makes any kind of witnessing void. Once you deny who you are and what you believe it gets easier to turn away from the truth and your job as a watchman.

That may sound silly or something that couldn’t happen but it does. The work place has changed a great deal over the years and there is always someone wanting to make you look bad. Competition for good jobs is tough and many times dirty. That is only one example of the subtle lawlessness of the world. You find it in groups of people in every area of life from work to friends, family and even church.

A new thing is for churches, in an attempt to not offend other religions, to teach out of the other religions books that are not our Bible inspired by God. How are you going to deal with that? All of these things are the forms of lawlessness coming over the world like a dark cloud to confuse and cause the watchmen to lose sight of their goal, to lose sight of God.

So we are looking at believers and unbelievers. The believers are us and we are to be watchmen on the wall to warn the rest of the world. If we allow ourselves to get caught up in the lawlessness even at a miniscule degree we won’t be able to do our job as watchman for God. We won’t be ready for the battle when it comes.

In these dark and unsure times we are to remain the light for those who are caught up in the darkness. We are to watch and warn. We must decide what we can be a part of and what we must separate ourselves from. Not easy choices but God will give us the courage and strength to make the choices and stand up and fight if we just trust Him and follow His leading.

“Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?  What accord has Christ with Belial?  Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said,

‘”I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.  Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6:14-18

“And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another.  And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold.” Matthew 24:10-12

“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.” Isaiah 5:20
