The pastor of my church recently had a Kairos moment in his life. He cut his finger while working on a door and he thought nothing of it, washed off the blood put on a bandage and went on. Two days later he was in hospital with a swollen, throbbing finger, red lines going up his arm and a doctor telling him he was hours away from losing his hand or worse if the infection wasn’t stopped! He spent a troubled, painful night in hospital while they ran a drip in his arm with antibiotics.
A member of the church was wakened that night with a dream of the pastor in the hospital where a doctor was telling him they were going to amputate his hand. She didn’t know anything about him cutting his finger two days before. But she felt a strong unction to pray and it would not pass so she prayed. In the end she was awake the rest of the night praying without ceasing for the pastor. She didn’t call him to see if he needed prayer, or question if it were true or false but just there was a need for prayer and God woke her to pray and in obedience she acted immediately.
In the morning the doctors found the situation had improved and they held off on surgery and decided to leave him in hospital on continued antibiotics. So for two days he waited and while doing that God showed him the importance of every part of our body. He looked at his hand and even the one finger and thought of how it would be without either. It was his right hand so he couldn’t even sign papers they wanted signed.
Sunday the pastor shared his experience and many of the people including the woman who had prayed all night … didn’t know what had happened. He thought it was just a simple matter and most of us didn’t know about it, but God had called on one woman in particular to wake up and spend the night in prayer.
On Sunday he said that God had showed him the importance of one member of the body and how much even one finger affects the entire body. As members of the body of Christ we each have a place, whether appearing small or large, we are all needed. We need to care for each other, support each other and operate together as we all are one united in Christ who is the head.
God awakened something in me over what he said. The next day I was reading a prophetic word from a respected prophet about the USA and the election which is mere hours away. And as I read it I agreed, yet my spirit felt it wasn’t complete. We are told by God to test the spirits, check things against His Word and no matter who says it … ask God for His version. It was from Joel 2 and if you look it up online in Bible Gateway in the (NKJV) you will see it is divided into sections for you, which is helpful! The prophetic word had only been on the section called The Land Refreshed. So I read the whole chapter. I believe God’s Word proved my unrest was right. Look at each section and read it all for yourself … I’ve just put the starting lines of each section here.
Joel 2:1-11 The Day of the Lord – “Blow the trumpet in Zion, And sound an alarm in My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; For the day of the Lord is coming, For it is at hand 2 A day of darkness and gloominess, A day of clouds and thick darkness,…”
That could fit where America and the whole world is right now.
Joel 2:12-17 A Call to Repentance – “Now, therefore,” says the Lord, “Turn to Me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.” 13 So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the Lord your God,…
If you read that whole section you will see God is very specific as to what is needed, repentance, coming in agreement with God, sounding an alarm, gather the people, pray and fast, sanctify the congregation, bring the elders, and at the end of those verses this really spoke to me:
Joel 2:17 “Let the priests, who minister to the Lord, Weep between the porch and the altar; Let them say, “Spare Your people, O Lord, And do not give Your heritage to reproach, That the nations should rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’”
That last line tore at my heart. And I cried out to God along with it; “spare Your people O Lord. Don’t let our heritage as a nation unto God be brought to reproach, don’t let other nations rule over us and don’t let them laugh and point fingers and ask, ‘Where is your God?’”
I know that repentance and prayer has happened all over America and in other countries as they call out to God for our country and we are down to the last few hours and you think “what can we do now?” If you look at the next verses you will see what the prophetic word I was talking about says and it is about the blessings from God BUT it has a condition … we must come in agreement with God and do the Joel 2:12-17. Repent and turn to God and listen to His voice in your own heart and continue to pray and call on Him to spare His people and go out and VOTE. If you know others who can’t decide and feel it is better to just stay home, pray for them, talk to them, show them Joel 2. Let yourself see the condition for the blessing and even if you have done all that, keep doing it, pray without ceasing, and use your freedom and right to VOTE!
Joel 2:18-27 The Land Refreshed 18 Then the Lord will be zealous for His land, And pity His people.19 The Lord will answer and say to His people, “Behold, I will send you grain and new wine and oil, And you will be satisfied by them; I will no longer make you a reproach among the nations…….27 I am the Lord your God And there is no other. My people shall never be put to shame.”
Those were the scriptures given in the prophetic word and that is God’s promise to us if we obey Him and repent. And yes almost all of us may have done that … but back to that one finger that almost cost the pastor his hand or worse … one part of the body not working right or coming in agreement with the rest of the body can cause a lot of pain and malfunction of the rest of its members.
Don’t think that you are only one person and what does it matter? You may be the tipping point member of the body that can change the whole situation! In the Book of Revelation, the Bible describes golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. In other words, the prayers of God’s people collectively fill heavenly bowls with sweet aroma, much like the burnt offerings in days of old.
Revelation 5:8 8 Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
As these bowls fill, the prayers are mingled with incense creating a pleasing aroma to God. Then as the bowls brim over, an angel takes the censor dipped in incense and prayers and showers the fire of God on the earth.
God said, “If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).
The “fire from the altar” is the power of God released from heaven to change the earth. As our prayers are lifted up to God, the golden bowls are filled until they reach a point when the bowls tip and pour out God’s power and provision on the earth.
Revelation 5:8“Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden alter which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand. Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. And there were noises, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake”
Jentzen Franklin said, “What a marvelous image! When you pray, you are filling the prayer bowls of heaven. In God’s perfect timing, your prayers are mixed with the fire of God (His power) and cast back down to earth to change your situation… Even if you don’t feel like anything is happening in the natural world, when you pray, you are filling the prayer bowls in the spirit realm. When they are full, they will tilt and pour out answers to your prayers!” (The Amazing Discernment of Women, by Jentezen Franklin)
So believe in your power and place in the body as ONE person praying, supporting and voting and above all believe in our God the God of the impossible Who is able to do all things and will spare our nation!
